Can you show me that " the onus is on the believer" from the bible?
Can you show me that "the onus is not on the believer" from Peter Pan and his adventures in Never-Never Land?
for atheists and strong agnostics (those who believe that we cannot know about god if he exists):.
i am posting this thread because i think it greatly help myself (and other christian believers) to better understand your beliefs and your viewpoints, if you posted a short (or long) summary of what the reasons and basis are for your not believing that there is a god, or for believing that we cannot know god if he exists.. you can include arguments against god, against the bible, against the christian interpretations of the bible, etc.. you can include scientific evidence that you believe contradicts the bible, or contradicts the existence of a god/creator/designer.. christians believers: you are welcome to post counter-arguments, or summaries for why you believe in god/creator/designer or why you believe in the bible or the christian interpretations of the bible.. i also thought it might be good to link to another lively thread we had on this website a while back: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/175688/1/god-morals-and-atheists.
when you include your reasons for why you don't believe in god or the bible, or why you do believe in god or the bible, please include at least a little bit of the evidence (or link to the evidence) that backs up your statement.. for example, it doesn't do much good to claim "evolution is false" and just leave it at that, or on the other hand, to say "the bible is full of scientific errors" and just leave it at that.. here are two threads i posted where i explained the reasons why i personally believe in god and the bible:.

I do not believe in God because: There is no proof.
I do not believe in fairies, hobgoblins, wizards, orcs, leprechauns, unicorns, minotaurs and lizardmen for the same reason.
Why is it not questioned that the latter group of creatures are mythical, but God - for whom there is the same amount of proof as there are minotaurs - is believed in by so many?
I think the onus is on the believers to proof there *is* a god, rather than atheists to prove there is not. If this is not the case then should we also assume everything else we can imagine also exists until proven otherwise?
egg and i were treated out to dinner three times last weekend by out of state visiting relatives.
just found out last night that they don't believe in tipping, at all!
we suggested the places to eat and frequent those places ourselves.
haha, this thread is US culture vs Everyoneelseintheentireworld culture it seems
as an English chap I find your whole tipping idea pretty stupid and patronising. If I order food and it comes to $10, but in order for the staff to make a living I really need to pay $12 then... how about this - charge $12 in the first place??!
I do tip from time to time if the service is very good, but 5-10% max, generally no tips at all, maybe because the food is already quite expensive here? A typical meal in a medium-quality place costs around $40/head, I really don't feel inclined to add another $10 to that just for the sake of it. If they can't make a business on those prices then charge more.
dig the text for today... beyond sureal... cognitive dissonance at its worst!!!!!!.

i picked up a $2 book of 1950's short stories.
was reading one by poul anderson written in 1957 called "call me joe" and realised i was reading the script for avatar!.
i googled and see that many think cameron has ripped off this short story for his film.
The film was so bland/unoriginal it could have been a rip off of many things...
